Hair loss and thinning treatments at Harley Street
Hair mesotherapy, Calecim stem cell–derived growth factors and exosome scalp treatments for thinning hair, after a GP's assessment of possible causes.
What it is
Hair thinning has many possible causes, including hormones, low iron, thyroid problems, stress and pregnancy. As a GP, I'll ask about your health first and suggest tests with your own GP where they may help. We then choose the scalp treatment that suits you from the three I offer.
Hair mesotherapy
A course of fine injections into the scalp that deliver nourishing ingredients to the area around the hair follicles. Usually a course of 4 sessions.
Calecim scalp treatment (stem cell–derived growth factors)
Scalp microneedling followed by Calecim, a professional serum made with proteins and growth factors derived from stem cells. It does not contain living stem cells. Usually a course of 3, about a month apart.
Exosome scalp treatment (ExoCoBio)
Scalp microneedling followed by ExoCoBio exosomes. Exosomes are tiny particles that cells release to carry signalling proteins; they are not cells themselves. This is the premium option on my hair menu. Usually a course of 3, one month apart.
Who it may suit
- Early or diffuse thinning
- A widening parting or reduced density
- Hair shedding after stress or pregnancy, once medical causes are considered
Part of the 360° Approach
I'll consider this treatment as part of a plan for your whole face, so it's balanced with everything else and you only have what you need.
Risks and aftercare
Common: tenderness, redness, small bumps and pinpoint bleeding. Rare: infection or an allergic reaction. Results vary and are not guaranteed. All risks are discussed at consultation.
Questions
Is this a stem cell treatment?
Not in the sense of using live stem cells. Calecim contains proteins and growth factors derived from stem cells, not the cells themselves, and exosomes are tiny particles released by cells. I'll explain exactly what is used before you decide.
Can these treatments help hair regrowth?
They aim to support the scalp and hair follicles, and some people notice less shedding and better density. The evidence is still developing and results vary, so I can't promise regrowth. If your thinning has a medical cause, treating that comes first, and I may suggest seeing your GP or a dermatologist.
Which hair treatment is right for me?
We decide together at consultation, based on the likely cause and pattern of your thinning, how many sessions suit you and your budget.
Is it painful?
Most people find it very manageable. Numbing cream or anaesthetic is used where suitable.
Can I have treatment on the day of my consultation?
Usually you'll have time to think about your plan first. If you've already had full information and want to go ahead, we can discuss it.
Who can't have this treatment?
It isn't suitable in pregnancy or breastfeeding, for under-18s, or with some medical conditions and medicines. I check this at consultation.
